I did not receive my confirmation e-mail after registering, how do I get that?
Please contact SHSMD at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will have your confirmation e-mail resent to you.
What are the sessions I chose when I first registered? I can't find them!
Please contact SHSMD at email@example.com and we will send you what you chose. Keep in mind, selected networking events and concurrent sessions during registration does not tie you to attend. You can customize your schedule as you please. We encourage you to download the SHSMD Connections Mobile App for the latest details and schedule, and also where you can add sessions to the "My Agenda" section.
What are the different registration options?
Rates for full-conference registration, groups of eight or more, preconference events, day passes, and guest passes are available here.
Can I pay by check?
Yes. There is an option to pay by check when you register online. Please follow the instructions provided inside the registration platform. All check payments must be received by August 14, otherwise, you must pay by credit card or bring your check onsite before you can be officially registered.
Is there a downloadable registration form?
You can register online, print out your registration, and pay by check or credit card. You will be able to log back into your account to make a credit card payment up until conference, and you can mail in a check as long as it is received by August 14, 2020.
Do you have discounts for group registrations?
Yes. Groups of eight or more individuals from the same provider organization may contact firstname.lastname@example.org to receive a discount code for 10% off. NOTE: Exhibitors, sponsors and companies in attendance are eligible for other discounts for registration; therefore the group discount program does not apply. Exhibitor and sponsor registration is handled separately.
All registrants must be paid in full by August 14. Any groups not meeting the minimum requirement and any unpaid registrations after August 14 will be billed the full-conference rate.
I’m a speaker. How do I register?
You will receive an e-mail from Stephanie Stewart, SHSMD Education Specialist, with specific instructions and a speaker discount code.
Can I bring a guest, and what sessions can they attend?
Guest Package ($165)
Includes admittance to the Exhibit Hall and all conference networking events, including the Exhibit Hall Welcome Reception (Sunday) and the Exhibit Hall Networking Reception (Monday). The All Attendee Networking event (Tuesday) is not included.
Deluxe Guest Package ($250)
Includes admittance to the Exhibit Hall and all conference networking events, including the Exhibit Hall Welcome Reception (Sunday) and the Exhibit Hall Networking Reception (Monday) plus the The All Attendee Networking event (Tuesday).
Exhibits Guest Package ($85)
Includes admittance to the Exhibit Hall, including Exhibit Hall Welcome Reception (Sunday) and Exhibit Hall Networking Reception (Monday). No other conference networking events are included.
Exhibit Hall Welcome Reception Pass ($45)

If I can no longer attend, can I send someone in my place?
You are encouraged to send a substitute if you cannot attend. All fees/credits are transferable to the substitute attendee less a $25 transfer fee. If the substitute is not a SHSMD member, the nonmember cost differential must be paid in advance or onsite.
Do I get a full refund if I cancel?
You are encouraged to send a substitute if you cannot attend. All fees/credits are transferable to the substitute attendee less a $25 transfer fee. If the substitute is not a SHSMD member, the nonmember cost differential must be paid in advance or onsite. If you do not send a substitute and wish to cancel your registration, registration fees, less a $150 processing fee, will be refunded if written notice is received by August 14, 2020. Cancellations will be acknowledged within five business days. If you do not receive an acknowledgement of your cancellation, please call 312.422.3888. Refunds will be made to the payer only. Cancellations of unpaid registrations are also subject to a $150 processing fee.
Is there a student track or student discounts for registration?
No, there is not a separate student track or discounts. SHSMD does have a Student Membership, click here for more information.
I submitted a speaking proposal, what can I expect now?
All speakers will be notified by May 1 if their session was accepted or not.
What is the schedule each day?
Can I earn CEUs? How many?
SHSMD is authorized to award up to 15 hours of pre-approved ACHE Qualified Education credit for attendees who attend the entire conference (plus additional credit for attending pre-conference events) toward advancement, or recertification, in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Participants in this program who wish to have the continuing education hours applied toward ACHE Qualified Education credit must self-report their participation. To self-report, participants must log into their MyACHE account and select ACHE Qualified Education Credit.
Is there a brochure or list of sessions that will be at the conference?
There will be a printed program brochure in June but please note: The LATEST details and updates are here on the website. There will not be a printed onsite guide at the conference, only the mobile app.
Are meals provided?
Breakfast and lunch will be served Monday and Tuesday, and breakfast will be served on Wednesday. Evening networking events will include hors d'oeuvres.
What is the dress code?
The dress code is business casual.
Can I change my session selections?
With the exception of preconference events, all concurrent sessions and networking events are available on a first-come, first-served basis, regardless of preregistration.
You do have the ability to log back into the Attendee Service Center linked in your confirmation e-mail. Once logged in, you can edit your selected concurrent sessions and networking events, add guests and make some updates to your account information (title, organization, e-mail). You may also add preconference events. If you wish to cancel a preconference event or process any other type of refund, please contact SHSMD at 312.422.3888 or email@example.com.
Will I receive session handouts?
Two weeks prior to the conference, session handouts will be available for download online and in the mobile app. Printed handouts will not be provide onsite.
Will the sessions be recorded?
All concurrent sessions will be recorded, unless their format does not allow. Attendees will receive complimentary access to the recordings via the SHSMD Connections Virtual Conference in October 2020.
How do I access the mobile app and when will it be available?
The mobile app will be available within one month of the conference. If registered, you will receive access and login information via e-mail. If you have not received access info, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org@aha.org.

I’m an exhibitor. How do I register?
You will receive an e-mail from Linda Griffin, SHSMD exhibits manager, with specific instructions in the summer. Please do not register using the regular registration link.
Will I receive a list of attendees?
A few weeks prior to the conference, registrants will receive a roster of attendees including name, title, organization, city and state. This list is informational only and may not be used for marketing or solicitation.
By registering and attending, what terms and conditions do I abide by?
By registering, program participants agree to refrain from marketing products or services during the course of the event.
Digital – Participants will not post solicitous messaging, sales promotions, or unprofessional notations on the conference mobile app. It is the sole discretion of SHSMD to remove messages that do not comply with our guidelines and/or remove sponsor privileges entirely.
E-mail – Participants will not send excessively solicitous messages to other conference registrants. SHSMD prohibits vendors from sending any solicitous advertising (e-mails, mail, other) falsely conveying that they are representing SHSMD or endorsed by SHSMD. SHSMD reserves the right to exclude that vendor from future conferences.
Literature distribution – SHSMD prohibits the distribution of literature in guest rooms, meeting rooms, exhibit hall, or public spaces at the conference hotel, unless otherwise approved by SHSMD.
SHSMD Logo - The SHSMD logo and SHSMD conference logo may not be used without the express written permission of SHSMD.
Recording and Photography
Portions of this program will be recorded by the American Hospital Association (AHA). By attendance and/or participation in discussions, registrants agree that the AHA may electronically copy, record, photograph and distribute registrants’ attendance at and involvement in the program. No individual or entity other than the AHA may electronically record any portion of this program for any purpose without the prior written consent of the American Hospital Association.
